Based on the book by Ann Rule about a woman who attempts to kill her three young children, Small Sacrifices features Emily's film debut. In this movie, she tackles the critical role of the daughter who survives the attack, only to be torn between her love for her mother and the inability to comprehend the inexplicable assault from her own flesh and blood. Deftly handling the heavy role at the young age of 12, Emily easily held her own opposite her adult co-stars, stole the show, and was subsequently awarded a YTV National Youth Achievement Award in Acting.
